UAE Tax Invoice Templates

Last updated:

Twenty sample invoices, in five layouts and three languages. Every one carries what the Federal Tax Authority requires — supplier and buyer TRN, line-level VAT, AED totals — so you can see what a compliant document looks like before building your own.

All figures and businesses shown are fictional.

This is general guidance, not tax advice. For your situation, check the UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) or a qualified tax advisor.

Classic

Serif headings, a ruled table, formal spacing. This is the default most people picture when they think of an invoice, and it is the right choice when the document will be read by someone who does not know you — a finance department, a new corporate client, an auditor. The ruled table matters more than it looks: when an invoice runs to fifteen lines, rules are what let someone check a figure without losing their place. Suits consultants, law firms and audit practices.

Minimal

No rules, generous whitespace, small type. It reads as confident rather than formal, and it works when the relationship is already established and the invoice is a formality rather than a document under scrutiny. The trade-off is legibility at length — with more than a dozen lines the absence of rules starts to cost the reader. Suits designers, agencies and independent professionals billing familiar clients.

Colour band

A full-width coloured header carrying the logo. The band does the work a letterhead used to: it makes the document recognisable at a glance in an inbox full of PDFs. Worth using when your customer receives invoices from many suppliers and you would rather not be the anonymous one. Keep the colour close to the rest of your branding — an invoice is a poor place to experiment. Suits small service companies and retailers.

Sidebar

Supplier details in a vertical column beside the table. It frees the full page width for the line items, which is useful when descriptions are long, and it keeps your contact details visible without repeating them in a footer. The narrow column is the constraint: long email addresses and company names need room, so check yours fits before adopting it. Suits retainers and recurring work billed to the same client each month.

Compact

Dense table, small type, many lines to a page. This is a practical choice rather than an aesthetic one — when an invoice runs to thirty items, the alternative is four pages that nobody wants to handle. Density has a cost in readability, so it earns its place on long documents and not on short ones. Suits trading and wholesale.

What every one of these has in common

The layout is a choice. The contents are not.

A full UAE tax invoice must carry the words "Tax Invoice", the supplier's name, address and TRN, the buyer's details including their TRN where they are registered, a sequential number, the date of issue and the date of supply, a description of what was supplied, the VAT rate and amount per line, and the total payable in AED.

A simplified invoice omits the buyer's details and the per-line breakdown, and is permitted when the customer is not VAT registered, or when they are registered and the supply is AED 10,000 or less.

Arabic and bilingual

There is no legal requirement for a UAE tax invoice to be in Arabic. English alone is compliant.

Arabic becomes relevant in two situations: when your customer prefers it, and when the Federal Tax Authority asks for a certified translation during a review. Issuing bilingually from the start avoids the second question entirely.

FAQ

What does a UAE tax invoice look like?

It carries the words "Tax Invoice", the supplier's name, address and TRN, the buyer's details, a sequential number, the dates of issue and supply, a description of the supply, the VAT rate and amount per line, and the total in AED. Layout is a matter of preference; the contents are set by regulation.

Is there an official UAE invoice template?

No. The Federal Tax Authority specifies the information a tax invoice must contain, not its design. Any layout carrying the required particulars is compliant.

Does a UAE invoice have to be in Arabic?

No. There is no language requirement for the invoice itself. Arabic arises where the customer prefers it, or where the FTA requests a certified translation during a review.

Can I use these samples as templates?

They are illustrations of what a compliant invoice looks like, not files to fill in. Use the free generator to produce a real one.
